How to evaluate an international university’s new Indian campus

An announcement, a planned launch and a course currently being taught describe different stages. Check the official India-campus page for your exact programme and intake, then ask admissions to confirm the start date, teaching location and whether places remain. If a campus is still planned, keep it on a monitoring list until the course and admissions process are established.

Ask who teaches the core modules, how faculty are recruited and what contact students can expect. Request the curriculum for the Indian delivery of the course. Explore class sizes, assessment, laboratories, studio facilities, library access and academic support. A parent campus’s facilities do not establish what a student can use in India.

Ask for the exact degree title and awarding body. If your next step has specific qualification requirements, check those with the receiving university or relevant professional body. For exchange or overseas progression, establish whether it is optional or compulsory, how students qualify, how credits transfer and what additional tuition, travel and living costs apply.

For any employment figure, ask which campus, course and graduating cohort it covers. Distinguish access to careers advice from an internship or job guarantee. At a new campus, ask about the support already available: employer events, supervised projects, internship processes and career advisers. Parent-university reputation can be relevant context; it does not provide a local graduate track record.

• Where will classes take place from the first day?
• What housing is available, and who operates it?
• How are wellbeing, accessibility and academic difficulties supported?
• What happens if the programme start changes?
• What are the payment, cancellation and refund terms in the current offer documents?

Keep the answers in writing. Use the campus-visit worksheet during an open day or admissions call.
